Head Start programs prepare children for kindergarten

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – It’s never too early to prepare your child for kindergarten. In fact, research shows that children who have successful kindergarten and preschool experiences are more likely to graduate high school.

Bauer Family Resources offers two free early education development programs for area children.

Bauer Head Start is a program that offers preschool for children ages 3 to 5. It is currently enrolling for the 2014-2015 school year.

For children under 3 years, Bauer Early Head Start is available. The program is designed to enhance kids’ growth and development, and it has immediate openings.

Julia Kolouch, director of early care & education at Bauer Family Resources, said while both programs are free, income requirements do apply.

“It’s critical to the families that we serve because it’s very expensive when you typically find a high quality preschool. The services we provide are free to families that quality, and the standards that we are held to are exceedingly high. Families can be assured that their children are getting the best first start.”

To find out if your family qualifies, call Bauer Family Resources at 765-449-0487 to set up an appointment. You can also get more information from the organization’s website.
