Police investigating second shooting near the speedway

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – Speedway Police are investigating an overnight shooting near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Police say an armed robbery committed by multiple suspects lead to a shooting. The incident happened around 2 on Sunday morning.

Police say several people robbed one of the campers in Lot 1-C. The suspects took off, but the victim’s friend took off after them.

One of the suspects turned and shot at the victim’s friend. Police say the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The robbery victim was also injured during the robbery, but was not shot.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police say another set of shots were fired near 30th and Georgetown near the Coke-Lot shortly after 5 a.m.

Speedway Police say it did not appear that anyone was hurt after the shots were fired. Police say it was not immediately clear what may have led up to the shooting.

Police were searching for the suspects involved for both shooting incidents.
