WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (The Exponent) – A record number of students are continuing their education over the summer months not only in West Lafayette, but overseas as well.
Purdue Programs for Study Abroad has the largest number of students to ever study abroad thanks to support from Purdue Moves.
Purdue Moves offers scholarships to students who wish to participate in study abroad programs, allowing more students to travel overseas. Undergraduates were awarded 943 Purdue Moves scholarships this summer.
Brian Harley, associate dean of international programs and director of Programs for Study Abroad, reports 1,003 undergraduates students will be studying in 42 different countries this summer and 750 are already overseas.
The increased interest in studying abroad is largely fueled by financial support from Purdue Moves, a range of initiatives designed to broaden Purdue’s global impact. The study abroad goal is for a third of all undergraduate students to participate in an international study, internship or research credit-bearing experience before graduation.
