Purdue names interim provost

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Purdue University has an interim provost ready to take over when Tim Sands leaves for Virginia Tech University.

Political Science professor Laurel Weldon will be interim provost from June 1-30. Sands becomes president of Virginia Tech on June 1.

Purdue has chosen Debasish Dutta, the associate provost and dean of the graduate college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, to take over permanently for Sands. Dutta arrives on campus July 1.
