Arrest made in attempted robbery

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Lafayette police arrest two after an attempted robbery early Wednesday morning.

At 2:38 a.m., Lafayette Police Department was dispatched to the 2600 block of Greenbush St. for an attempted robbery. When officers arrived they found a male victim who had been attacked.

The victim told police he was pushed into the street and punched multiple times causing injuries. The victim said the male suspect searched the his pockets and stated “What do you got?”

The victim told officers there was a second man standing watch by a White Corolla, which is the vehicle both men left in after the incident.

Officers said the victim provided a good description of the suspects and the vehicle involved. A short time later, Lafayette police spotted the White Corolla on Sagamore Parkway North.

After officers stopped the suspected vehicle, LPD took two individuals into custody. Police arrested Greggory Cataldo, 20, who was transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail. Cataldo faces charges of attempted robbery and battery.

The other individual involved was a juvenile male. He was taken to the Tippecanoe County Juvenile Intake Center. Due to his age, the juvenile’s name will not be released.
