Rettig resigns as Harrison girls basketball coach

Jake Rettig Resigns

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – After four seasons as Harrison’s head girls basketball coach Jake Rettig has resigned.

The Harrison Athletic Department announced that Rettig’s resignation is effective immediately. Rettig cited person reasons and time commitment as factors that led to his decision.

“Coaching at Harrison was a great opportunity and great experience for me,” Rettig said. “The kids were second to none.  Time commitment and personal reasons have forced me to resign the position.”

“I believe that Harrison is in great shape for future success as it moves into the NCC and I will be their biggest fan.”

Harrison Athletic Director Jerry Galema was appreciative of Rettig’s time with the Raiders in a text message to Sports 18.

“I appreciate the time that Jake has spent with our girls basketball program,” Galema said. “He is leaving, with our program moving in a positive direction.”

The Raiders went 20-66 during Rettig’s tenure. They finished 7-14 and 3-6 in conference play this past season before losing to eventual sectional and regional champion Logansport 63-45 in the sectional. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
