TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Locals and those from out of town got a look at area landmarks on a guided bus tour Saturday morning.
CityBus provided Tour the Town to give people a free hourlong tour through Greater Lafayette. The tour starts on Main Street in downtown Lafayette, then moves across the bridge through Chauncey Village and Purdue’s campus, before circling back to Lafayette.
Tour guide Denise Laussade pointed out various historically significant spots, such as John Purdue’s gravesite and the Moses Fowler house. She said it is important to know who the people that made Greater Lafayette what it was and continues to be today.
“It’s interesting if you’ve lived in many different places to come here to know how this place was created [and] what the inspiration for Lafayette is,” said Laussade.
CityBus offers two tours every Saturday morning, one at 9:40 a.m. and the other at 10:40 a.m. Tours start next to the Lafayette Farmers Market through September.
