Veterans Home hosts car show

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Three dozen cars and counting sat on display at the Indiana Veterans’ Home on Sunday.

Residents of the home got a chance to look at cars dating back several decades. One such vehicles was a small firetruck which served the Veterans Home in the 1920s.

The Lafayette Historic Auto Club invited the Early Birds of Hoosierland to participate in the event. The organization showcased about 15 Thunderbirds from across the state.

“Generally car shows [are] such that we take our vehicles to car shows to possibly win trophies and everything,” said Early Birds member Bob Smith. “The greatest trophy here is actually being with the residents.”

Members of the Early Birds, many of them veterans themselves, say they hope to bring their cars to next year’s event.
