LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A body found in Lafayette that resulted in a police investigation has been identified.

Tippecanoe County Coroner Donna Avolt said the body found at 854 Shawnee Ave. on May 3 is Gerald Francis Gavan. Avolt said the manner and cause of Gavan’s death has not been determined.

News 18 previously reported, Lafayette police interviewed Gavan’s caretaker Ila Solomon about Gavan’s death. Captain Kurt Wolf stated that Solomon said she was married to Gavan.

Friends told News 18 they had not seen Gavan in the months leading up to the discovery on May 3.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
