LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A Greater Lafayette Commerce program gives cyclists an incentive to shop downtown.

Registration is now available for businesses to sign up for Wheels for Deals. The program was developed by GLC’s Quality of Life council.

The goal of the program is to encourage more people to bike rather than drive downtown. Participating businesses will provide special deals to cyclists shopping.

In return, program manager Sara Yelich said businesses might see increased sales as well.

We’re hoping that the businesses and the cyclists can work together just to get more foot traffic in the doors, to encourage more people to shop local and to encourage business owners to open their doors to cyclists,” said Yelich.

Registration is free for GLC members and $10 for non-members. To register, contact the Greater Lafayette Commerce at (765) 742-4041.
