Straight Arrow Day Camp gets kids back to nature

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The YMCA Straight Arrow Day Camp is in full swing at Camp Treece in Tippecanoe County.

Campers take buses out on week days to experience the outdoors and learn life skills. Canoeing, archery and horseback riding are just some of the activities at the camp. Older children can join the Trailblazers Camp to learn leadership skills and team building.

Camp director Maggie Allexsaht said Straight Arrow can give kids an escape to nature.

“It’s so important for them to be outside and to get away from the pressures of technology and everyday life. So many kids could be sitting behind a TV all summer or playing video games. Instead, they come out here and enjoy the outdoors and get to try something they might not get to do,” said Allexsaht.

Parents can sign up a week at a time or the entire season. For more information on Straight Arrow Day Camp, click here.
