Driver crashes into Kohl’s

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The entrance to Kohl’s at the Tippecanoe Mall is shattered after a driver crashes into it.

The Lafayette Police Department said the crash happened at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday at the entrance facing Sagamore Parkway.

Officers told News 18 the driver, Peggy Meyer, 52, of Wolcott, Ind., accelerated at the end of a parking aisle and crashed into the building.

LPD said Meyer was transported to Franciscan St. Elizabeth East for minor injuries.

After further investigation, Lafayette police officers said a medical issue may have caused Meyer to crash.

The city engineering department was on scene to assess the damage.

A mall spokeswoman said Wednesday night that the building was deemed structurally sound and Kohl’s will operate on normal hours.
