Valedictorians honored at Greatest of the Class

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Area high school valedictorians get a round of applause from superintendents, parents and city leaders.

Students from high schools throughout the News 18 Viewing area were honored at WLFI’s Greatest of the Class ceremony Wednesday.

Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski and West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis both opened up the ceremony by congratulating students for their hard work and wishing them luck for the future.

Gunther Balensiefer, the Benton Central valedictorian, said while he was honored today, he wanted to give credit to those who supported him the past few years.

“Honestly, throughout the years there have been so many people who have helped me. I can’t take credit for anything. But with this ceremony, it helps to show us how hard we’ve worked for everything and that it’s really awesome to move on to the next level,” Balensiefer said.

Fifty-eight students were honored at Wednesday’s luncheon held at Four Points Sheridan in West Lafayette.
