LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette is gearing up for its Home Builders Blitz week.
The week, which runs from June 9 to June 13, will see the organization construct three houses, as well as rehab one historical home.
Habitat executive director Doug Taylor was a guest on News 18 This Morning and when asked about the origins of Blitz week, he replied, “Several years ago, our international organization decided to challenge home builders in the United States to dedicate one week to building houses with Habitat…In total, we’ve built 15 houses over the last few years through the Builders Blitz.”
Majestic Homes will be building one of the three houses during the Blitz, and it has issued a challenge to build the house in 12 hours. On Monday, June 9, crews will begin construction at 6 a.m. and hope to be complete by 6 p.m.
There will even be a special guest on Tuesday, June 10. “Steve Thomas, with “This Old House” and “Restoration Nation,” will be coming to Lafayette to visit our four sites…We’ve got a full agenda that day with Steve. He’s the national spokesperson for Habitat, and we’re excited to have him,” said Taylor.
Home Builders Blitz week is June 9 to June 13.
