LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – More families are needed to host students from Lafayette’s sister city in Japan.

Ota, Japan is planning to send 14 students to Lafayette later this summer as part of the SIA Sister City program.

The Sister City Committee is still looking for host families for the 14 students ages 13 to 18. The students will be visiting the community from Aug. 19 until Aug. 28.

Greater Lafayette Commerce Economic and community development program manager, Lauren Davis, says it’s about bringing the communities together.

“We have had the Sister City since SIA opened here, but that’s a business relationship and to have this personal relationship is really important,” said Davis.

Families interested in hosting students can contact either Lauren Davis or Greater Lafayette Commerce by phone at 765-807-5933 or email LDavis@greaterlafayettecommerce.com.
