Elliott Hall hosts Harrison and McCutcheon commencements

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Purdue University’s Elliott Hall of Music hosted two commencement ceremonies Sunday afternoon.

Harrison High School had a total of 356 graduates and McCutcheon High School had 354 graduates pick up their diplomas. Some graduates will be venturing outside the state to attend college while others will stay closer to home.

Harrison’s Jera Beard will be enrolled in the Accelerated Student Associate Program, or ASAP, at Lafayette’s Ivy Tech in the fall. She will get her associate’s degree in liberal arts and sciences within a year and hopes to eventually make her way to medical school.

“The end of high school marks a whole new world coming ahead,” said Beard. “Congratulations to everybody who graduated. Not just at Harrison, but everyone.”

Beard says she’s grateful for the counselors at Harrison who served as inspirations for her to continue to follow her dream of working in the medical field.
