TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — The Tippecanoe County Council and commissioners are preparing a sustainability plan for the county.

The plan is a three year forecast made by looking at the county’s past revenues and expenses. Helping county leaders with the plan is Financial Solutions Group President Greg Guerrettaz. He said a challenge all counties face right now is limited revenue growth and more expenses.

“Revenue growth is limited and overall — like most corporations are experiencing — a lot of expense growth. The expense growth isn’t necessarily something that the county can control. It’s like healthcare costs. It’s like power costs. It’s those types of things,” Guerrettaz said. “Those are growing exponentially, sometimes, and so what we’re trying to do is figure out how to manage through that process.”

Once Tippecanoe County leaders finalize the three year forecast, it will help them form the 2015 budget.
