Intersection Connection raises $11.9 million

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A plan to build a 120,000-square-foot building has raised more than $11.9 million.

The building is part of the Intersection Connection, which hopes to improve higher education, workforce development and financial literacy. The project was put together by the City of Lafayette, IU Health Arnett, Ivy Tech Community College and the YMCA of Greater Lafayette.

The building is planned to be placed just south of Ivy Tech’s campus. However, Mayor Tony Roswarski says more money is needed before they can break ground.

“We still need to raise several million dollars to get to where we need to be,” said Roswarski. “We still have some fundraising to do, but we’re still looking for that hometown hero — those people in the community that love Lafayette that are willing to step up.”

The building is still within the planning stage, but Roswarski said he hopes construction could begin as early as this year.
