LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Sweet summertime feels like it’s here to stay and the Lafayette Parks Department is encouraging people to get out and walk.
Thursday evening was the first Walking Toward Wellness event. Each of the walks in the 12-week series starts with a short talk about wellness and the importance of walking. Then it’s time to hit the trails.
Event organizers said the goal over the 12 weeks is to walk a 5K.
“It’s a great way to socialize and get out and be with your friends in a way other than typical things — going out to eat or going to a movie,” said event leader Abbie Dobson. “It’s just a different activity that gets you moving.”
