LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – She has received awards for her singing and songwriting. Next weekend Briagha McTavish will be playing at the Taste of Tippecanoe. McTavish has been playing music since she was 4 and has been writing music since she was 14.
“As a song writer, I try to write songs that will come from my heart. So that right now is more like the singer/songwriter like Sara Bereilles, Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson,” said McTavish. “It’s something that I’ve always just been drawn to. I just love how it can make you feel so amazing and really maybe even help you understand emotion that you’re feeling.”
Last year, McTavish released her first album called “Patterns” and is currently working on her next one “Green Torch.”
McTavish said she’s excited to come back and play at the Taste of Tippecanoe.
“I loved playing at the Taste. It was really cool to be able to play in front of so many people, because I play a lot of gigs that are smaller — which I love too. But I like in front of bigger crowds, just because I feel awkward looking at individual faces a lot,” said McTavish.” The atmosphere is wonderful and seeing how receptive people are. I’m just so blessed to be able to play at the Taste. I’m so excited for it.”
McTavish will be at the Third Street stage Saturday, June 21. She will been on at 9 p.m. and will finish around 10:30 p.m.
