Repairs at South Tipp Park move forward

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Tuesday morning, the Lafayette Board of Works approved plans to move forward with renovations at a Lafayette park.

As News 18 has been reporting, Subaru South Tipp Park on the corner of Third and Fountain Streets, is being completely redone.

Construction began in March but weather has slowed progress. Park officials said the new look will start taking shape after crews put in drainage pipes and pour concrete. Along with new playground equipment, a new shelter is also planned.

Tuesday morning, the Lafayette Board of Works approved a contract to begin concrete work.

“Once this is finished, the parks department will be able to get the playground equipment here and get that installed,” Lafayette City Engineer Jenny Leshney said. “So, we are moving forward. Hopefully by the end of July we will have all of the concrete work completed.”

Leshney said the total cost of the project is about $105,000.
