LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Runners get your tennis shoes ready! The Columbian Park Zoo is hosting its 12th annual Zoo Run Run.
But before the race can go on, city leaders said they need the help of the community. Organizers said they are expecting nearly 1,000 runners and need at least 150 volunteers. So far, only about 30 people have committed to help at this year’s race.
“We need help with everything from helping with water stations and barricades to help keep our runners and walkers safe, as well as just folks who can be here on the ground to take care of those small tasks that may come up,” said Cory Ahlersmeyer with Columbian Park Zoo.
This year’s race is scheduled for Saturday, July 19 at 8 a.m. For more information about volunteering, call 765-807-1545 or visit the Zoo Run Run website.
