Preparations underway for Stars and Stripes

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Preparations are taking place for Greater Lafayette’s annual Stars and Stripes Concert.

The traditional 4th of July concert in downtown Lafayette attracts hundreds of people each year to Riehle Plaza. The Citizen’s Band will be playing patriotic music, with fife and drum corps also marching through the plaza.

“It grows every year,” said Lisa Decker with the Stars and Stripes Committee. “Depending on the weather, if we have a great night, we’ll have lots and lots of people in the downtown area.

Organizers said the Big Swing Band is a new addition to this year’s concert.

“We’re proud to display our downtown and to display the great musical talent we have here as well,” Decker said.

Decker said remember to leave pets and personal fireworks at home.

The fireworks display will begin at dusk.
