Inmate escapes federal prison in Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A prisoner escaped from the federal penitentiary in Terre Haute on Thursday.

A 57-year-old man from Michigan reportedly escaped from the prison on the south side of Terre Haute Thursday afternoon.

The inmate was serving a 60-month sentence for domestic violence and for being a habitual offender.

Few details were released Thursday night.
