Shadeland family loses home to fire

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — A family loses its home to fire in Tippecanoe County Thursday afternoon.

Officials said the fire started before 3:30 p.m. in the Shadeland Mobile Home Park, just off State Road 25.

Amy Coy said she had been doing laundry all day and had just dropped off her two children at a friend’s house. She said she was driving to a doctor’s appointment when a neighbor called her and said her house was on fire.

She said no one was at home at the time of the fire, but several pets did not make it out.

The Shadeland Fire Department contained the fire to the back of the trailer, but investigators said the structure is more than likely a total loss. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
