Budges gives sample ‘Taste’ of upcoming festival menu

News 18 This Morning previews Budges Taste of Tippecanoe menu

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) One of Lafayette’s best-kept secrets, Budges Drive In, won’t be so secret once it make its Taste of Tippecanoe debut on Saturday, June 21.

Co-owners Jeremy Stockdale and Tyler Child appeared on News 18 This Morning and talked a little bit about the history of Budges. “Budges is located right next to the old St. Elizabeth Hospital on 14th Street. We opened in 1942, and my parents bought it about 20 years ago. We bought it this year, so this is our first year running and owning it,” said Stockdale.

Since they’ve taken over, Child said the menu has been completely revamped with the addition of new burgers and a new breaded tenderloin.

For their Taste debut, Child and Stockdale thought it was best to go with an affordable and simple approach. “We’re gonna be selling coney dogs and milkshakes,” said Child. “That was a big thing for us — to keep it low cost.”

If you want to try Budges at the Taste of Tippecanoe, head to the booth at Fifth and Main streets in downtown Lafayette during Taste hours. The Taste starts at 4 p.m. and will go on until midnight.
