Canal Park holds second annual Kids Day

Kids Day at the Canal

DELPHI, Ind. (WLFI) – In Delphi, kids learned about traditions and techniques young and old at Saturday’s second annual Kids Day at Canal Park in Delphi, Ind.

Along with the historic demonstrations at the park, local firefighters and police officers were on hand to give kids valuable lessons.

The entertainment spanned generations as well. Modern dance groups performed to audiences, as well as the Tippecanoe Ancient Fife and Drum Corps. The corps re-enacts the times of colonial French military influence in North America.

Drum Commander Malcolm Duncan said sometimes the love for history starts young.

“When we’re in Connecticut in a few weeks, we’re on a baseball diamond with 500 to 700 fifers and drummers from ages 5 to 95,” Duncan said.

The Voyagers Ancient Fife and Drum Corps also performed at Kids Day at the Canal. The group consists of young fifers and drummers. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
