Big changes coming for Scott Street

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Changes to a busy Lafayette intersection near Columbian Park are in the works.

Lafayette City Engineer Jenny Leshney said if all goes as planned, Scott Street near Columbian Park will close in 2015. Crews will be realigning the intersection and linking a new trail from the north side of South Street to Columbian Park.

“We will actually be taking the curb along Scott Street and meeting that up with Park Street,” Leshney explained. “So this will be a three-way intersection, instead of a five-way intersection.”

Leshney said a cul-de-sac will be installed on Scott Street. She is hoping the changes will eliminate any conflicts between pedestrians and cars.

Leshney said construction should begin sometime next year.
