Motorcyclists ride for Lyn Treece Boys and Girls Club

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – On Saturday, hundreds of area bikers will be revving their engines in support of the Lyn Treece Boys and Girls Club. It’s the 8th annual Linwood Showdown Ride.

Showdown coordinator Gary Wolf has been with the event from the start. “Our first year, we had 66 bikes. Our second year, we had 250 bikes. It’s just grown since then,” said Wolf when he appeared on News 18 This Morning along with Lyn Treece Boys and Girls Club Event Director Barry Richard.

All money raised at the ride will go toward the Lyn Treece Boys and Girls Club. When asked how that money will help, Richard replied, “What it will allow us to do is add program staff, add activities, add new programs and the academic support it gives us is just amazing. We have math and reading scores just skyrocket…This kind of event, not only the resources it raises, but also the Linwood Group itself — they come in and get involved with the children.”

It costs $10 per rider. Registration is from 10 a.m. to noon. The ride then takes off at noon from the Conservation Club of Tippecanoe County, 2799 Conservation Club Road, in Lafayette.

But you don’t need a motorcycle to help, there will also be activities going on throughout the day at the Conservation Club. Wolf added, “They can come out any time during the day. DJ Dave from Crickwater Productions will be playing music all day. Fattie’s Barbecue will be there. We’ll have food.”

The riders will return to the Conservation Club around 4 p.m. Sometime after that, there will be a live auction.
