NWS: Tornado on ground

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The National Weather Service said a tornado was on the ground Tuesday afternoon as a tornado warning continued for Marion and Hendricks counties.

A tornado was spotted in Plainfield, and then again in Speedway, moving toward Indianapolis. The Speedway Police Chief said there was no confirmation that a tornado touched down in Speedway.

There were preliminary reports of damage submitted by viewers from News 18’s sister station WISH-TV.

A tornado warning expired at 3:15 p.m. for Marion County. Anyone in the path of the warning should take cover in a sturdy structure.
