LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Food Finders Food Bank is asking for your extra produce.
The food bank is in need of perishable food items such as tomatoes, green beans and bell peppers. Officials said pretty much anything that grows, they would love to have.
Food Finders development director Amy Gaulke said fresh fruits and vegetables are essential to round-out the diets of their clients. She said having produce available is a healthy option for families.
“It’s a nice item for us to get on the plate. For people who need it, it’s going to add a little more health to that plate. Little bit more color, little bit more flavor,” Gaulke said. “Especially when it comes from the people in our community, I really feel that love and that effort is passed along to those in need.”
