Art and gardening combined in free Art in Bloom garden tour

Art in Bloom garden tour interview

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Gardeners and art lovers alike will want to head to the Art in Bloom garden tour on Saturday. The free tour showcases 13 different artists in six private gardens in West Lafayette.

Master gardener and watercolor artist Jim Mailloux appeared on News 18 This Morning and talked about why he chooses to participate in the event. “The best part of it is, it’s a great venue to show what we can do. A lot of it is inspiration from the garden too. Master gardeners have a big background in the floral industry, so it’s just a nice place to get your work out in front of people.”

Tour chairwoman Lynn Layden added, “We’ve been recognizing the great gardens in West Lafayette now for almost 12 years. We had a collection of great gardens we wanted to show off, so we decided to collect them for a tour.”

The tour is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Head to Unitarian Universalist Church at 333 Meridian St. in West Lafayette to pick up a map, or you can click here to get a map and listing of each artist.

Visitors will also be able to purchase works from the artist and watch the creative process. There will be live music at three of the gardens. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
