LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A summer bowling league is raising donations for a breast cancer program. The eight-week league is being held at Market Square Lanes in Lafayette.
The league will start July 7 and will be held every Monday at 7 p.m. Proceeds will be given to the YWCA Women’s Cancer Program.
League coordinator Casey Taylor said he decided to start the league after his fiance’s mother had a double mastectomy last fall. Taylor said he’s hoping the league builds to become an annual thing.
“I think it’s a neat thing because we’ve talked to the YWCA, and they always need any money that they can get. I also think that it would be fun to be associated with it,” said Taylor.
Registration is still available for teams of three and a $25 donation. Players must also pay an additional $10 each week, half of which goes to the the YWCA. The league will also hold other activities, such as a 50-50 raffle, with all proceeds going to the YWCA.
Teams are encouraged to also raise money for the YWCA. Taylor said in the final week the league’s top team will face off against the team that raises the most donations.
