LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — During the month of July, local law enforcement will team up to crack down on drinking and driving.

It’s a push known as Operation Pull Over. Starting July 1, a state-issued grant will allow for extra patrols on highways and other major roads.

Lafayette police officers said having grants like these help them catch impaired drivers.

“It’s challenging to have extra time to go out and do additional traffic enforcement,” said LPDs Matt Devine. “So what this grant does is, it allows officers who are off duty to come on duty to look for impaired drivers.”

Operation Pull Over will continue until the end of July.
