Final Friday means free movie night at Columbian Park

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – If you are looking for a fun family activity, you may want to go to the Final Friday movie night at Columbian Park.

Final Friday is a family event taking place on the last Friday of the month during May, June, July and August.

The Final Friday for June will have arts and crafts, a puppet show put on by Purdue Theater, and the movie Peter Pan projected onto the Memorial Island stage with concessions provided by Tropicanoe Cove.

Organizers are thrilled with the event’s turnout so far in its first year.

“I’ve always enjoyed community outreach, and I just think it’s really fun to be a part of a brand new event. And getting everyone excited about it, getting them involved, and just offering families something new to do,” said support services coordinator Alex DeWitt.

It’s a fun and unique movie-going experience, Dewitt said.

“People love outdoor movies. The drive-in theaters are a little bit further away, so it’s something we offer here in Lafayette. We have entertainment for kids and parents to enjoy, and it’s all for free,” said DeWitt.

The event is free to the public and runs from 6:30-9:30 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
