WINCHESTER, Ind. (AP) — An eastern Indiana man faces attempted murder charges for allegedly using his car to run down three men in an alley.

Thirty-six-year-old Ricardo Mendoza of Union City is being held at the Randolph County Jail on a $300,000 bond. He faces three counts of attempted murder.

Authorities say Mendoza used his car to strike three men early Sunday in a Union City alley about 75 miles northeast of Indianapolis

All three men were hospitalized and one was airlifted to a trauma center in Dayton, Ohio.

The Star Press reports police found Mendoza at a nearby house after the incident and he told officers two men with a knife had tried to attack him.

Police say the attacks may have stemmed from an argument in or outside a Union City tavern. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
