Paoli murder suspect’s wife wanted by police

PAOLI, Ind. (WISH) – Indiana State Police are searching for a wanted murder suspect’s wife who is believed to be hiding him after Monday’s triple shooting in Paoli.

Anette D. Davidson, 54, of Mareng, is married to murder suspect James Davidson, 36, of Marengo.

Investigators said Elbert Edward Brooks, 48, of New Albany, John Carpenter, 35, of Marengo, and Davidson were involved in the triple shooting in Paoli that left two men dead.

Brooks was arrested late Wednesday.  Brooks said he was waiting in a vehicle when he heard gunshots. He told police Davidson and Carpenter returned to the vehicle saying “that it had went wrong.”

Investigators said the shooting was over meth.

Nicholas Fields, 56, died Monday and Corey Michael Harris, 25, died Tuesday at a Louisville, Kentucky, hospital. A third man, Daniel Smitson, 29, is recovering from a gunshot wound to the mouth. All three victims are from Paoli, which is about 45 miles northwest of Louisville.

All three suspects face two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of robbery, and Carpenter and Davidson also face charges of being habitual criminals.

If you see Anette Davidson, immediately call police at 812-482-1441. ISP warns not to approach Davidson, as she may be with her husband who is considered armed and dangerous.
