INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officer was taken to the hospital early Friday morning to be checked out after a driver ran a red light and hit the officer’s squad car.

It happened just before 2 a.m. at Shelby and Raymond streets on the south side of Indianapolis.

Police say a female driver ran a red light and hit the squad car. The police cruiser was damaged and the officer was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Officials say the officer was later released.
