Purdue alums create startup company to spice up the party

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A startup company founded by Purdue alumni gives people the chance to customize disposable dinnerware.

Signature Settings was founded in 2012. The company’s idea is to create an easy way for people to create personal dinnerware for weddings, parties or other events.

Signature Setting co-founder Stephen Christopher said they came up with the idea while they were at the dinner table. Christopher said the business gives people another option when planning an event.

“This ability to leave lasting impression and no longer just have this standard plate, you can actually have something at your table that is customized [and] personalized. It just helps [people] kind of enjoy the moment that you’re celebrating,” Christopher said.

The custom dinnerware runs about a dollar a plate. Christopher said they are working with other national and international companies to incorporate their product with other personalized items.
