Soft sounds from Centennial Park

Appalachian Music Maker

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – If you’re looking for something to do on these beautiful summer nights, Centennial Park may be hosting just the thing.

On Tuesday nights throughout the summer, the Dulcimer Gathering will be playing music for everyone to enjoy. People can watch the musicians play some traditional Appalachian music and, if you want, you can even join in on the fun.

Organizer Carolyn Moses said veteran players will gladly help beginners learn how to play.

“A group that promotes learning and playing the dulcimer, and we just try and encourage people, and that’s what we were doing tonight. One of our members was busy teaching people who just stopped in and were curious about it,” explained Moses.

If you play any acoustic instrument and want to play along, the Dulcimer Gathering takes place every Tuesday at Centennial Park in Lafayette from 7 to 9 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
