MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) – A jury has sentenced 30-year-old Charlene Tabb to 87 years in prison.

In May, Tabb was found guilty of murder and neglect in the case of 5-year-old Marie Pierre.  Marie Pierre was Tabb’s 5-year-old Haitian cousin.

Authorities said the girl was repeatedly beaten in the weeks before she died.

Jurors found Tabb also beat other children in her home, including Marie’s older brother and sister who in court also acknowledged abusing her.

Tabb’s husband, Marcus, faces trial on similar charges in October. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
