HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police found human remains in Hancock County, near Greenfield, Thursday morning.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, workers at a nearby business reported an odor in the 3100 block of west US 40. Officers found the decomposed remains of a man in a creek bed.

Police are unsure if the remains are those of Jody Scroggins, who was reported missing last week from a nearby mobile home park.

An autopsy will be conducted later this week to determine the man’s identity and cause of death, according to the sheriff’s department. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
