LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Congressman Todd Rokita made a stop in Lafayette Thursday to answer questions and concerns from residents.

The event starting with the reading of the Declaration of Independence. Then Representative Rokita answered a number of questions on topics like Iraq, veterans care and immigration. Another hot topic in Congress is that federal funding could run out for construction projects across the country. If Congress doesn’t act by next month, projects in Tippecanoe County may be affected.

“If the road projects are what the priority is, what isn’t so much a priority; and what are we willing to live without, so that we don’t have to print more money to keep raising the debt level,” Rokita said. “That’s the discussion that’s happening. It’s very hard. What are we going to live less with, so that we can have these road projects completed?”

Rokita said he is confident a solution will be found before any projects are in danger of running out of funds. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
