DELPHI, Ind. (WLFI) – The Canal Day Festival wasn’t the only thing celebrated in Delphi Saturday.

The community gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Gray Bridge Saturday afternoon.

Gray Bridge came from Putnam County, and was disassembled and moved to Delphi.

It was restored and put back together over the canal to serve as a trail bridge.

Wabash and Erie Canal Association President, Dan McCain said it’s the biggest project they’ve tackled so far, and says it is another way the city of Delphi continues to grow.

“This gives us more room to grow. We have a park that’s going to be bigger,” said McCain. “We continue every year to put in more buildings and exhibits. We’re growing.”

McCain said it took two years to complete restoration and installation of the bridge. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
