BATTLE GROUND, Ind. (WLFI) – There are a lot of different ways you can celebrate over the 4th of July weekend, but Wolf Park celebrated with watermelon.

Saturday was Wolf Park’s 14th annual Watermelon for Wolves Party.

The fundraiser gives each wolf, fox and coyote watermelons stuffed with the animal’s favorite treats.

Wolf Park Head Animal Curator Patrica Goodman said it’s an event that people enjoy seeing, and the wolves enjoy it too.

“The wolves enjoy opening them up, and getting the treats out ,” said Goodman. “Sometimes they eat a little bit of the watermelon pulp.”

Goodman said watermelon isn’t the only treat the wolves enjoy.

She said the wolves will enjoy pumpkins during October’s annual Pumpkin Party.
