LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) – After officially beginning on Monday, the Cass County Fair is in full swing.
Miss Cass County Claire Crum said it was an honor being crowned 4-H fair queen Sunday night.
“Every girl says it, but this is something I have been wanting since I was a little girl. I used to walk around the fairgrounds when my brother was older and in 4-H and I would see the queen and think she was beautiful and wanted to be just liker her. Now, as I have grown up, I realize I wanted to be a role model for my community and girls my age,” said Crum.
Aside from being fair queen, Crum has a full schedule for her tenth year of 4-H.
“I’m in seven projects and two of them are sheep and goats and I have five non-walking projects,” Crum said.
“It is the highlight of my entire year. This one week is so much fun seeing people I know, seeing people I don’t know, getting to meet them and all the activities that go on. There is something for everybody here.”
One of those activities is an antique tractor square dance taking place Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
“We will have tractor pulls Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Saturday is the auction where all the kids will sell their animals. I would encourage everyone to come out there and bid on an animal. There is going to be the hog show on Thursday which is always huge. The cattle show is Wednesday and the sheep show is tonight,” said Crum.
The Cass County fair will go on until Saturday, July 12.
“I would just like to encourage everyone to come to the Cass County Fair. It is definitely the highlight of my entire summer. I promise if you come, you won’t be disappointed. It’s so much fun,” said Crum.
