GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) — A pilot was killed and three other people were injured after a plane crashed in Greenwood Friday afternoon.

The Greenwood Fire Department posted on Twitter just before 2:30 p.m. that the accident was near Main and Patterson streets. Chopper 8 flew over the scene and saw the wreckage in the backyard of a home.

Officials at the scene say the plane was taking off from Greenwood when it lost power. The plane then hit two homes.

There were two people on board the plane — the pilot and co-pilot. Emergency personnel say the co-pilot was pulled from the plane and taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital. The pilot was killed.

As of 4 p.m. on Friday, the co-pilot was listed in critical condition.

Two other people on the ground were also hurt.

A small plane went down in Greenwood in March. A flight instructor and his student were injured in that crash.

Patterson Street, between Pearl and Main streets, is closed in Greenwood as of Friday at 3:45 p.m
