Tippecanoe Co. Deputy promoted to TSC resource officer

TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – A new school resource officer for Tippecanoe County is ready to help kids this school year.

Deputy Chuck Shumard is a 19-year veteran of the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office. Shumard is a Lafayette native and graduated from Jefferson High School.

He is assigned to Tippecanoe School Corporation elementary and middle schools. Shumard said he is there to help kids succeed.

“Make sure you attend class. Make sure, if anybody is causing any issues with you, you let a principal, a teacher, office staff or let one of us know. And we’ll handle the situation, and see what we can come up with, ” said Shumard.

Shumard is training with current TSC resource officer Aaron Gilman. School starts for TSC on Aug. 13.
