TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — The Department of Child Services in Tippecanoe County are asking local residents for help. DCS is in need of individuals to become foster parents for children in our community.

Foster parents are needed to provide a safe, stable and loving home for children 18 years old and younger. DSC Regional Foster Care Specialist Iona LaBaw said they help to make a difference, one family at a time.

“As a foster parent, you can use your skills and experience to help families by providing a safe, nurturing and stable home for a child during a challenging time,” said LaBaw.

DSC will hold its first training session for prospective foster and adoptive parents on Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon. The session, entitled “Introduction to Department of Child Services,” will be held at the Tippecanoe County DCS building located at 250 Main St., Suite 301, in Lafayette.

Reservations are needed to attend the training session, as space is limited. The deadline to reserve a seat is Friday, July 25. If you would like to reserve a seat for the training session, contact Kay Houck at 765-762-6125 ext. 13071.

For additional information about the foster care program, please contact a DCS Region 5 Foster Care Specialist at 765-742-0400.
