Tools for School supply drive accepting donations

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The Salvation Army’s Tools for School drive is now taking donations.

Major Jim Irvine said donations are slowly starting to roll in. He said they are in need of notebooks, pencils, pens and anything else students can use in the classroom.

Irvine said even a small donation can have a big impact.

“You wouldn’t think that a new packet of crayons or a new pouch for school wouldn’t mean that much, but when you see these kids eyes light up. Their faces just brighten up because someone has cared to make a difference in their lives. They’re set for the school year. It makes all the difference in the world,” said Irvine.

Drop off locations include The Salvation Army, any Subway location, Regions Bank, Payless Super Market and Franciscan Physician Network locations.

The supply giveaway is on Aug. 9 at the Lafayette Adult Resource Academy on Elizabeth Street in Lafayette.
